Perhaps you think I'm stupid for not knowing the exact date of the French Revolution, but ignorance is not stupidity or offense, it's a condition. For example, I think you must be ignorant about nuclear motion of accelerated particles, but not knowing something so specific does not make someone "stupid".
I did not remember the date, but that would have little importance if I did not know what the French Revolution meant, and if I knew, that would have little importance if I didn't know how to use it on effectively questionable things, therefore, the date is left behind in importance.
