Hi Sam, an English native-speaking member is going to have a look at this weird and cut down text. I would like to know about it, as I think it is not very smart from the submiter having mutilated this text the way he did it, at least he could have let a comment to explain its context...

It looked literary to me, so I googled it - they are various quotes from works by Louisa May Alcott, but they do not belong together. Here is one of the originals.

One of them is written in Southern dialect. See the full quotes below.

... remember that no matter how many lovers you may have you'll never be to any of them as dear as you are to me.

Josie caught the changed tone, and felt, with a thrill of joy, that her new friend was speaking to her now as to a comrade.

I nearly broke my neck over the parlor sofa in the hall to-night. What is it there for?

He hardly stirred, I aimed so true, and when I seen him quite still, with no more moanin' and pain, I was glad, and yet wal, I don't know

"He said his plans were not made, but he meant to go into the little house that belonged to grandma, as soon as he could, for it wasn't honest for a bankrupt to keep up an establishment like this."

Nat was called upon to wrestle with Stuffy, and speedily laid that stout youth upon the ground.

Dropping the knife, she tried to get her handkerchief, but the blood flowed fast, and the pain of a deep gash made her a little faint.

Here is a translation into normal English of the one in dialect:

He hardly stirred, and I aimed so true (= straight), and when I saw him lying quite still, with no more moaning and pain, I was glad, and yet, well, I don't know ...

[It's a guy telling other people how he shot a dog who was in pain from a big wound.]

Francky, maybe you could write to the guy who posted this and ask him what's going on. He apparently can only read French.

Well, as it is very literate, someone better than me should maybe translate it.

Sorry guys...

Actually, I thought you did a fantastic job, considering the weirdness of the original! I would say the only serious mistake is with "Stuffy", which is apparently a name.

Thanks a lot for the search-work, kafetzou, it helped us a lot, and I've sent jmsaino a message telling that it'd be better if he submited the text you pasted above instead of the mutilated one, in order to get a translation that makes sense, from the original text.
As kafetzou said, mentatzps, you did the best you could to translate, and if jmsaino ever wants to edit the way I advised him, I'll use the original text then you'll translate it, and I guess your translation is going to be a good one from the right text (I don't refuse your translation, we shall edit the translation when original text will be submited instead of the one
we got 'til now)

Merci beaucoup, Laura!
