| | Hi handyy,
Is it "gamble" or "game"?
"gamble" sounds like risking money betting on something. Is that the meaning in the original? |

| | Hi Lilian,
it is not "game" but the former one; taking risk, betting on an uncertain outcome/money. |

| | Oh, OK then, let's set a poll! |

| | "Kumar" peut aussi être "jeu de hasard" mais même en jouant bien au jeu de hasard on ne gagne pas toujours, j'ai donc préféré utiliser seulement "jeu"
The word "kumar" can be: "a gamble" or "a game" but even if you play well while gambling, you will not always win. This is why, Turkishmiss prefered to use the word "game".
It can have both meanings, but I think turkishmiss has given a good answer about this.

| | Hi Nathan,
Did you set the "administrator please check this" flag by mistake?
|
| | 12 Haziran 2008 14:28 |
| | Hey Ian,
I didn't set it by mistake. I just wanted to let lilian know something about this translation because she's asked a question.
However, I don't know how you can do that CC: Lilian thing, so this is why I set the "adminstrator please check this" flag, because she is an admin =D
sorry, I didn't want to bother you with it.
regards,
Nathan |

| | Hi all
Nathan when we use "game", will this word give the meaning that "if you play well, you really win all the time"?? ı really didnt unsterstand what you mean what is the exact difference between "game" and "gamble", then ? |

| | Hi handyy let me give an example.
When you play soccer and you are very very good! You will always win, but when you are gambling, even if you are the best, it's still a gamble, so you're never sure you will win.
Do you understand?
Regards,
Nathan |

| | Thanks for the explanation Nathan. correct me if I am wrong, but I am not agree with you about the example. In soccer, no matter how well you play, there is always a possibility to loose because of your team mates who are not as good as you - and sometimes because of referees.
as to me, both in a "game" or in a "gamble", if the matter is luck, there is no guarantee neither for winning or for loosing. |

| | then I mean, if you are the best tennisser in the world, and you are always the best, nothing bad happens.. then you will always win, of course this is not true. But it is just an example.
Same with the sentence to be translated.
Even if you are the healthiest person, even if you don't do anything wrong. You just have to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and some terrorist blows himself up!

| | I think we are saying the same thing! the one who says the sentence to be translated must be sooo self-confident to dare to say such a thing, ı guess, he plays the gamble without knowing the "rules" of both gambling and life |
| | 12 Haziran 2008 18:04 |
| | Haha, I think you are someone who has always something to say? xD |
| | 12 Haziran 2008 18:29 |
| | Well, ı am so sure about it, but if you say so... |
