Últimas Mensagens | | | | | 22 Março 2007 19:23 | | | sedaseda, is it "and shall be transmitted" that you wanted to type? (I'll edit if it is) | | | 8 Abril 2007 19:45 | | | I've edited "and" instead of "anh", then "will" instead of "shall", and I guess there are some more words still to edit, like this "commencement" and "descent"...
I'll ask to the English expert to check this english text, as it seems very weird to me... | | | 8 Abril 2007 19:59 | | | I changed "og" to "of", but otherwise it looks fine to me. "Aerodromes" are obviously airports - I wouldn't worry about that. By the way, what's wrong with "shall"?
"commencement" and "descent" are perfectly good English words.
Anyway, the translation into Turkish has already been accepted, so why do we need to edit the original text? | | | 8 Abril 2007 20:02 | | | I've edited back "will" into "shall", as it was initially.
About "commencement", so does it mean "beginning" same as the French word?
and I guess "descent" means "descente"...
Sacrés anglais! | | | 8 Abril 2007 20:17 | | nava91Número de Mensagens: 1268 | | | | 8 Abril 2007 20:54 | | | kafetzou t'expliquerait mieux que moi mais c'est une forme qui est insistante et, comment dire, "contractuelle", comme dans un texte de loi ou un réglement, ou une convention , ou une note de service. Aussi, pour appuyer, comme dans "we SHALL overcome"... | | | 9 Abril 2007 03:08 | | | Shall sounds more like someone of authority setting down the rules. But, more importantly, it's what the original text said.
And yes, commencement is a fancy word for beginning (or a graduation ceremony), and descent means going down. It's used for airplanes landing (haven't you ever heard "we are commencing our descent now"?), hiking, someone become depressed, entering a cave, and many other contexts. |
