N.B. This is a slightly different version of that sentence that was translated dozens of times: the verb this time is in future tense.

I thin it should be "vincet", without the second "i".

Am I right Goncy and Porfy?

But why bother when this is a multiplicated translation check this another bra-por-lat of the same phrase...

Xini, I think we should have a serious discussion with JP and Francky regarding all this junk... and that soon!!!

Some points:

1) I warned that this time the verb is in future tense, as this, for me (and probably for anyone who would perform a search) is sufficient for not being called a double request.

2) Yes, Porfyhr (note - I'm using your "full name" here, this means I'm a bit upset ), tattoo translations are veeeery boring. But try to see the things by a point of view of a newcomer: does s/he know what is going on here in Cucumis? S/he probably arrived here after a search in Internet for free non-automatic translations, and is exactly what we offer! Once upon a time (this was before I find Cucumis), this site was suitable only for people who speak at least two languages - the native one and another. But, by reasons that don't matter now, it was decided to grant free points to newcomers, so they could ask for translations to be done even they aren't able to perform any.

3) At last, I think that being an expert also means to deal with this kind of thing ("thrash", "junk", name it). But one thing is performing a careful cleansing, other thing is to get upset (or even angry) everytime one throws a new piece of junk where there is already so many dirty. You know I'm very diligent about this, I'm one of those who most overcharge administrators (namedly Francky) about dupped translations, homeworks, dictionary-like translations and so on. This time, although, I think it's a legitimate request.

Xini, you are right! This verb (vinco) in future tense isn't "vinciet", but vincet (or vincerit in future perfect)

Hi, Profhyr, we had already many discussions about these duplicated requests and that's why we have implemented the "I want an administrator to check this page".

I agree with you Goncin. This case is special, because we have already this one but it's not in future tense. Thus we can consider this translation is not a duplicated and can be translated.

And to recall the procedure to everybody. When a translation is duplicated, we usually remove the request and inform the requester where he can view the translation and eventually request a new target language for this translation.

If you see a duplicated request, post a message and check the "I want an adminsitrator to check this page".

Oh, this time Verbix cheated me, as I supposed that 1st person singular present tense was "vincio" (it's "vinco". Just corrected. Thanks Xini and pirulito.

I think this request is ok too. I already searched for this sentence before posting.

Porfyhr, JP, Xini and everyone interested,

In spite of all the discussion above, I really think it's a pity wasting our efforts translating phrases for tattooing. By the other hand, as I already stated, we can't deny to do them, because the aim of Cucumis is to provide free translation service.

This way, to please Greeks and Trojans, I think there should be a popup in Latin destination language, saying more or less the following:

---------------------------------
English version

Cucumis receives lots of translation requests for tattooing purposes, mainly from Portuguese speaking members.

If your text is for a tattoo, we probably had already translated it, specially the most common ones. Please perform a search before submitting your text: this way, you can save our time and your points.

If you insist on submitting an already translated text, you request will be removed unattendedly. Be careful!

---------------------------------
Brazilian Portuguese version

O Cucumis recebe um sem-número de pedidos de tradução para tatuagens, principalmente de pessoas que falam a língua portuguesa.

Se o seu texto for para tatuagem, nós provavelmente já o traduzimos, especialmente os mais comuns. Por favor, faça uma busca antes de enviar o seu texto: deste modo, você pode poupar o nosso tempo e os seus pontos.

Se você insistir em enviar um texto já traduzido, seu pedido será removido sem aviso. Seja cuidadoso!

What do you think?

I think it's great,

in spite you're forgetting that the Brazilians are lazy for reading, It's a warning for they know why their request could be rejected.

Goncy my friend!
Tattootranslator in not what wish to be engraved on my toomb stone.

You have got an important point in your thinking and it is that we should make it easier, faster, funnier and more interesting to spend time her at cucumis to se what real translation is. (maybe an instructive little slideshow by Thatha?)

We have so different Latin education and it can be hopeless to differ between right or wrong.

Why not make all tattootranslations expensive but guaranteed very well done.

We have a female latin expert on the go and she is very interested.

Why shall EVRY brasilian have a Latin tatto (JP you would have been millionaire by now)

Porfyhr,

Not only a Latin tattoo, but also Arabic, Hindi, Greek, Japanese, Chinese and Korean ones (Just ask elmota, drkpp, chrysso91 and irini, Polar Bear and en, pluiepoco and aquila_trans...). Anything exotic goes.

Brazilian hadn't discovered yet how good are Swedish and Danish for tattooing...

tattoo has a history, it was firstly used as a kind of torture, and then used for underground organizations.

in modern China, tattooed persons cannot be allowed to army.

And I thought polar bear is Chinese, is he really japanese? He knows Chinese very well, even better than me.

Goncin, what a brilliant idea!
Maybe we can add this warning later for Arabic, Hindi etc... but let's start with Latin which is almost exclusively used for this purpose...

But we must keep all this very short because the goal of the popup is to inform quickly and efficiently. For example, there is already a popup for arabic, and adding this message will make things heavier.

A shorter version would be
"
Latin translations for tattoo and names are very often already translated in the site. Perform a search before submitting to save your time, your points and our time.
"

I haev in the todolist an entry to add a header in the search page to explain to people how is done a serious search (using key words) and how to subscribe to email notification when the translation is already requested but not already done, and how to request a new target language when it's not already asked.
