The illustration was created to realise an illustrated science-fiction story, which will be soon published. The main function of the picture is to describe the story context: it is a world neglected and in decline where the protagonist (on the left), for narrative reasons, wanders in order to move away from society and to remain in solitude. I wanted to exalt a sense of drama by setting a preponderance of warm colours and by inserting smoke and dust. About the realization of the pictures, as usual, I took some photographic references into consideration as sources of inspiration. In this case, due to the theme, I found great interest in the backgrounds of Mad Max and in the video game Red Faction Guerilla.
