There are two lines missing from these song lyrics. Here is the complete text:
Nee kono machi ga yuuyami ni somaru toki wa
SEKAI NO DOKOKA DE ASAHI GA SASU
KIMI NO TE NO NAKA SONO HANA GA KARERU TOKI WA
chiisana tane wo otosu darou.
Fumi-katamerareta tsuchi wo
michi da to yobu no naraba
me wo tojiru koto de mo ai kanaa?
THE TRANSLATION IS BASED THE CORRECTED VERSION ABOVE, i.e. IT ALSO INCLUDES THE TRANSLATION OF THE TWO MISSING LINES.

When dusk falls on this city
somewhere in the world the sun comes out.

When the flower in your hand dies
it drops a small seed.

If you call earth that has been beaten down a road,
then is it love even if you close your eyes?
Rimarkoj pri la traduko
This is the kanji:
ねえ、この街が夕闇に染まる時は小さな種を落とすだろう。踏み固められた土を道だと呼ぶのならば
目を閉じることでも愛かなあ?
After a bit of searching found that these are lyrics from a song by Maaya Sakamoto
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maaya_Sakamoto
The song is called "ループ": (loop I guess?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0O40XmMd6SQ
but it seems there are parts of the sentences missing, here is the complete version:
ねえ この街が夕闇に染まるときは
Nee kono machi ga yuuyami ni somaru toki wa
世界のどこかで朝日がさす
sekai no dokoka de asahi ga sasu
kimi no te no naka sono hana ga kareru toki wa
chiisana tane wo otosu darou.
fumikatamerareta tsuchi wo michi da to yobu naraba
me wo tojiru koto demo ai kanaa?
---
It's the full version above that I translated (with the missing middle sentences "sekai no dokoka de asahi ga sasu, kimi no te no naka / sono hana ga kareru toki wa" -> "...somewhere in the world the sun comes out. When the flower in your hand dies..."). Without them it doesn't make any sense.

You know what, shioyama is absolutely right: the song is exactly the one he gives the link for, and the parts that are missing from the original text here are indeed essential for understanding the proper meaning of the song lyrics.
So, rather than punish him for his excellent detective work, I'd like to applaud him for it and approve this translation as it stands now, even though there are two lines added to it which aren't in the original.
Anyway, the other option is, we can put those two extra lines in the notes only, but it would be a shame to screw up his already-excellent notes.
What do you think, Lilly?

Hello, shioyama, great work! You keep this up, and we'll be making an Expert out of you yet!
Only one point, and it's really a judgment call: I think it is the flower here that drops the seed as it fades. As you know, the subject isn't given in the Japanese, but I believe this is what is implied here. What do you think?

Hi Ian,

It's your call!
I think you could also edit the original text using the proper script so that it will look correct in our database.
What do you say? Am I asking so much?

Hi Ian,

Thanks! Actually after I translated it and re-read it I thought the same thing, it should be the flower that drops the seed.
