English experts, could you please have a look in the source text and edit it? Is it possible?Because it is making things a bit confusing

Thanks

I cannot edit the source text, because it has too many errors. I do not think it was written by a native speaker. I think you should not try to translate this one until the submitter has corrected the errors (if he can).

Hi,

If the source text had a lot of errors it would not be productive to edit your English version. I also feel that this should be sent back to the submitter for corrections or simply rejected.

Hmmm... How 'bout this?
---start---
Last summer, I went camping under the big waterfall of Kent. I guess this was a great trip for me, however some people do not understand why. Well, I did lose my left arm, but then I had a third arm, the invisible one. Since then, I started to learn how to use my karma arm, and soon my skills were those of a master. It wasn't a surprise to me when people started turning their backs on me, since I was considered to be a freak or mentally ill. Funny thing. I can't tell them the truth.
---end---
But some of it is conjectural: can you go "camping under a big waterfall"?
Anyway, for what it's worth...?

Oi Angelus, Oi Hitchcock, Oi Dannymoc, Hi fellow English Experts...

There are far to many mistakes in the source text to allow for a good translation.

I agree with Kafetzou that this was not written (or correctly copied) by a native English speaker.

I had a look on danny's profile page and English is not one of her chosen languages.

Angelus, can you ask her in Br Portuguese to check up her sources and do some corrections on the source text?

Hmm. Dramati, the English is the source text. Ian, I think your guess is excellent, but I agree with Tantine that this needs to go back to the requester before someone tries to translate it - that way he learns a lesson in how to submit texts here on Cucumis, too.

I think the text is a piece of fiction, derived from "The Long Arm of Gil Hamilton", a short sci-fi story and then a novel by Larry Niven.

How about asking the submitter if she would like us to guess about the mis-spelled and missing words? And then in the translation mark them like [this].

maybe the typos and errors, I said "maybe", is because he has just one arm to type...

Haha Hitchcock

Shes going to have to do her corrections with her Karma arm.

One question though Alfred? How do you manage to do all these "difficult" translations? I mean, each time I find a a source text full of holes or full or "rubbish", you have already managed to translate them into Br Portuguese. I am very impressed, because you are not afraid to attack even really awful texts.

lol...Tantine, I usually take care with these translations and I' ve only manage when I'm almost sure of it...or when it is so obvious like "waterfull" to "waterfall", in this case it couldn't be another thing...
and his/her one left arm explains "to me" the typos and errors...
anyway I've always wait for some help and opinion of you before it is validated...and I'm learning too much with that...

thanks for all!

I hug you with my karm arm!!!

Well, how can we tell Danny_moc to check the source text if she doesn't speak English?
I think that Ian's corrections fits good as well as the Portuguese translation.

She can check the source text because she has the original, I assume. She copied it carelessly. This way she'll also learn to be more careful the next time she submits a text.

minhas habilidades é plural, portanto ...

se tornaram as de um mestre.

não acho que seja necessário colocar "como" as de um mestre.
Todo o resto está correto.

Ian: That was like deciphering a code, wasn't it? Great job!

Actually, I'm an English (ESL) teacher here in Japan, so it's part of my job to understand almost incomprehensible English!
