Resolution
The Swedish Tax Agency has decided to withdraw your registration from
the national registration as a migrant 15 April 2008.

Reason
According to paragraph 20th of the Legislation on National Registration (1991:481), a person who is assumed to regularly spend his sleep outside the country during at least one year, shall have his registration in the national registration withdrawn as a migrant.

According to your own report "Notification Moving Abroad". The Swedish tax agency considers that there is a reason to withdraw you from the national registration.

Hi Pia,

We need to find a correspondence to those names in English.

For example: "Skatteverket" = the treasury
"folkbokföringlagen" is that a kind of "census"?
"flyttning till utlandet" is the "tax income form"?

Lilian,
"Skatteverket" = "Swedish tax agency", they deal with all kind of questions within the whole tax administration area. They also administer the national registration. (born, married, dead, emigrate, imigrate...)

"flyttning till utlandet" = "Notification, Moving Abroad" is a application form (no. SKV 7665) from the Swedish tax agency.

"folkbokföringlagen" = " Legislation on National Registration" I paste a link here for you. (But it's in Swedish .) In short: It's a Swedish law concerning the national registration.

I don't know if this explains to you what yoyu need to know, pleease ....ask again and I will try to explain.

Ok Pia, let's start with some corrections, I can see that we have a long way ahead...

decision ---> resolution
deregister you ---> withdraw your registration
migrated ---> migrant (or inmigrant? Is the person a foreigner living in Sweden or a Swedish leaving the country?)

This paragraph should be changed a little.

"According to 20 § folkbokföringlagen (1991:481) shall a person that can be assumed to regular spend one's sleep outside the country during at least one year be deregister from the national registration as migrated."
into:
"According to 20 § Legislation on National Registration (1991:481), a person who is assumed to regularly spend his sleep outside the country during at least one year, shall have his registration as an inmigrant withdrawn."

And the last one into:

"According to your own report "Notification Moving Abroad". The Treasury considers that there is a reason to withdraw you from the national registration."

This is quite confusing, so let me know if I am wrong, OK?

Hello Lilian,
thanks a lot for your good suggestions! I shouldn't have done this one. You are very nice that don't reject it. And yes ...this is a confusing text, not only my translation, but also the source text VERY formal and stiff!

decision ---> resolution

deregister you ---> withdraw your registration

migrated ---> migrant (or immigrant?) I think that it shall be:
"as a migrant". Ok?
It doesn't say if the person is a Swede or a foreigner, just that s/he had lived outside the country ... I guess that the person has Swedish citizenship, since s/he is a "tax payer"

I think that the last sentence in the first paragraph: "shall have his registration as an immigrant withdrawn." must be: "shall have one's registration in the national registration withdrawn as (e) migrated."

And I don't know if you can translate "skatteverket" to "The Treasury” ? According to my own research they write "Swedish tax agency" Can you write like that?

Yes, I think we can write it like that.
If you make the edition I guess we can set a poll.

Although many think we enjoy rejecting translations, I only reject one if and only if the sense was completely misunderstood or the grammar, syntax and spelling are really bad, otherwise I'll always try to spare the translator's work

Ok "Boss" Lilian, I'll do that now.

Yes...I also hate to reject translations, but sometimes there is no better choice.

"20 § folkbokföringlagen" means "the 20th paragraph of the law in the (or "of the" ) National Registration" (seems weird, but...)
