You are the reason why I love the creatures for the sake of the Creator, the reason why I take ten steps towards the one who takes one step towards me... And you are the reason why I can accept everyone as they are... And you are the reason why I am grateful for today and praying for tomorrow, why I am content with less, not wanting more... And you are my palm ...which is never closed... (Mevlana) | Remarks about the translation | In orig, nal text , it is not "you are the reason of my...", all sentences begin as "you are my..." I preferred to use the word "reason" to my it clear. Also in the 5. and 6. lines "today" and "tomorrow" are "my today" and "my tomorrow" in original. and in Turkish there is a beautiful and famous word of Mevlana "Love the creature because of the Creator"
Mevlana is known as 'Rumi' or 'Mewlana' outside Turkey. |

Sounds like someone is making a very positive difference to someone else's life
To make the English text flow a bit better, what do you think of this suggestion?
You are the reason why I love the creatures because of the Creator is there any other way we could say this? It sounds a bit twisted, but I can't think of a better way, the reason why I take ten steps towards the one who takes one step towards me...
And you are the reason why I can accept everyone as they are...
And you are the reason why I am grateful for today
and praying for tomorrow, why I am content with less, not wanting more...
And my palm (-> is it implied here that you are my palm? I think in that case, we should say it as it is not clear in English)
...which is never closed...

I have edited so I can set a poll but please let me know if you don't agree or if I misunderstood something
Before edits:
You are the reason of my loving the creatures because of the Creator, my drawing ten steps near to the one who comes one step towards me...
And you are my accepting everyone as they are...
And you are the reason to thank for today
and praying for tomorrow, being content with the less, not wanting the more...
And my palm
...which is never closed...
(Mevlana) | | | 14 December 2010 20:07 | | | This includes a few sufistic sentences about love.
That is a purport of a holy hadith which says that Allah commends that "If slave closes me one handspan, I come near him/her one yard.If he/she closes me one yard, I closes her/him one fathom. If he/she comes near to me by walking, I comes near him/her by running."
Also this a fine advice of Mevlana: "Love the creatures because of the Creator"
It recommends us to love all people, all living things because all creatures have a piece of part from the Creator. If you love your GOd , you must love all creatures that he created.
Also in original there isnt a sentence like "you are the reason of my..." , they are "You are my ..." I preferred to translate with the word "reason" to make a sense | | | 15 December 2010 00:55 | | | Mevlana is known as 'Rumi' or 'Mewlana' outside Turkey. | | | 21 December 2010 19:55 | | | I love the creatures for the sake of the Creator...> I love the creatured because of their Creator | | | 22 December 2010 19:29 | | LeinNumber of messages: 3389 | Not a lot of votes here
