They are very pretty (and they don't seem to see Hebrew, when I think of it) LOL
| | The original messege is written in poor language. what the person who wrote it probably meant was that the beautiful women who he was talking about wouldn't be able to read his messeges. |

The English looks mostly fine, are you sure about the verb "see", it seems somewhat strange in this context, where I would have expected "read" maybe.
I've set a poll as I can't read any Hebrew myself.

Tantine | | | 7 říjen 2008 01:04 | | | hi
i know that the verb "see" looks strange at that context. i even explained that the person who wrote it probably meant "read". but the transelation itself is very precise. | | | 8 říjen 2008 09:57 | | | × ×’×”,
I would replace "as I think of it" with "so it seems". It's not literal, but it has the same meaning and reads better. | | | 8 říjen 2008 11:58 | | | Hi guys
thank you for responding to this transelation. i'm (relatively) new here. I accept both of your comments regarding what sounds better in English. The original message was actually written in poor Hebrew as well. I thought I should have kept that notion.
Is there a"policy" regarding such matters?
thanks,

Welcome to cucumis Hope you will enjoy yourself on here
If you find a text that is poorly written in the source language (and that it seems accidental - it could be a quote from a book or an interview and need to be kept in its original form) you should signal the text to an expert in the source language (like here you could have let milkman know) or you can notify an admin by clicking on the button at the top of the translation page.
In general, I try and keep a translation as loyal as possible to the original (style, feeling, rhythm...) Having said that it is often best to paraphrase and find locutions in the target language itself. A translation should never "look" translated. It should always seem to the reader that it was written directly in the source language.
Hope this helps
Ask any more questions you like, but think about posting questions in the forums too, as here I am not giving you a piece of hard policy, more just my personal opinion about translation.

Tantine | | | 11 říjen 2008 11:33 | | | Seems like a text message to me, hence the poor language (txt slang).
I would replace 'as I think of it' with 'when I think of it', since the ש in ש×× ×™ is the slang version for כש×× ×™; and 'beautiful' for 'pretty', and maybe say 'they're very pretty'. |
