| | jeg ville oversatt litt annerledes visse plasser. f.eks "det gir deg ingen utfordring" - "it doesn't give you any challenge"
"siden jeg har vært slem gutt..." - "since I've been a bad boy..." |

| | utfording = challenge
Til og med jeg er klar over at det ikke det Catherine liker = On top of that, I´m sure that that´s not what Catherine likes
And I´d remove the "afterwards" |

| | I would say, knowing a little bit more of the context, that these two last added comments were very helpful.
Expecially the «til og meg». The «on top of that» is perfect. I know it could sound strange to make a big deal over these 3 little words, but that what i find difficult abou norwegian. The articles.
Thanks to everybody that helped me with it.

| | Oh and i forgot the «afterwards». Since i have been...was quite accurate.
Merci |

if this is a more correct translation then I would edit it like this in English: "if you don't find this challenging." However, I don't understand in what context a person would use this considering the rest of the paragraph. It sounds sort of like they are insulting the other person. Is this correct? Is it supposed to be a bit of a joke or maybe an insult? |

| gezzaNumber of messages: 1 | Tror ikke du kan bruke "Bear hug" å slikt. En må finne et engelsk brukt ordtak som en kan bruke istedet for. |

| | You are right Dramati. I would say it is a little sarcastic in the context but not insulting.
What does your message means Gezza?

| piasNumber of messages: 8113 | Hi Catherine,
gezza "say" that the word "bjorneklem" can't be translate to "bear hug". (maybe she is right?)
wow..I can see that this was NOT a good translation done by me. (sorry)
Anyway...it seems like you got it right now, after the native Danes contribution. |

| | Well Pias, it is not your fault. He is not an easy writer! I am learning norwegian on my own for a year now and still sometimes i don't understand what he means! He writes in a sort of «telex» type of writing and he doesn't seem to know how to use ponctuation that much! And yes it was bearhug that he meant cause i've sent him a photo that i took in the newspaper here in Canada with a bear on it and the name of the bear was Knut like him.
Who is danish? |

Oh.. I was thinking about Norwegian when I wrote Danish. Anyway jente26 seem to be a native Norwegian...not Anita, she is origin from Denmark I think. |

| | It's not translated exactly - I'd rather say: "..., it doesn't give any challenge at all. Furthermore I'm aware that it's not what Catherine likes..." |
| | 29 January 2008 19:39 |
| | is « i det hele tatt» means « at all» ?
Thank you Svennebus

| | So gang, please agree on that last line, tell me what it should be, and I will edit it, and we can validate this translation and move on.
Thanks,

| | I agree. I am really satisfied with the translation.

| piasNumber of messages: 8113 | Hi dramati,
it seems to me that CatCartier got the meaning and is happy about it now, good!
Anyway...how to edit it..when summarize all the messages above, my proposal is: "I can't just write to you in english, it doesn't give any challenge at all. I´m sure that that´s not what Catherine likes ... since I had been a bad boy, Knut gave me a bear hug, yes I can write what it's all about if you are wondering!"
ok ? |
