The 1995 Kobe earthquake was the biggest quake in Japan after the earthquake of 1923 in which 142.000 people lost their lives. It was a quake which measured 7.2 on the Richter scale and lasted 20 seconds. 5.470 people lost their lives and 33.000 were injured.This earthquake, known as the Kobe quake, is the biggest disaster after the Great Konto quake of 1923 which caused the death of 142.807 people.
