the danish dictionary says explicitly that this should be translated to: "faith can remove mountains".

Strange kind of translation. It is not the way it is said in English, as far as I know.

Well I agree with Ordinarycat. The word "move" in
Danish has various significations. It can be : to move flat, to move oneselt, to transfer. In this particular case it's remove. : "Faith removes mountains".

Gamine is absolutely right.

Cf. 1 Corinthians 13, 2 (King James Version):

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith (har jeg al Troen), so that I could remove mountains (så at jeg kan flytte Bjerge), and have not charity, I am nothing.

There are probably many ways to say this sentence but ordboken.dk have this version with "tro kan flytte bjerge" -> faith can move mountains

I doubt "faith can remove mountains" is 100% correct. I would vote for "faith can move mountains", because it is quite an used expression. Just as a simple example, Nat King Cole had a song called "Faith Can Move Mountains".

If I don't mistake there is a small difference of meaning between "move" and "remove" in English. Besides, I believe the proper word for "remove" in Danish is "fjerne", not "flytte".

But this is my humble opinion, Lilian must have the final word here.

And I also think "Faith can move mountains" is the best known use for that quote, however in Matthew 17:20 we find:
And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

Where 'move from here to there' can be understood as: "remove". (take out of the way)

In Dutch the Bible text in Corinthians says: 'move' the one from Matthew :'remove'...

Lilan as spoken.
I rest my case.
