evet kfeto,
superimpose=üstüne koymak/getirmek,eklemek ,gb.

I reckon this translation is completely wrong!

"super" is short for "supernumerary" look at here and click on its noun form please.

how do you reckon the english uses 'read' for an person if they intend to mean actor?

only signs/texts read, people/actors say.

A text can BE READ but an actor can READ, that is how I reckon it. is it clear now??

no it still isn't. i'm a bit thick, i guess.

so the meaning, you say, is that the ad starts with an actor sitting there reading a text that spells out 'magnum' or maybe a book called 'magnum'?

and also, if super is a person wouldn't they use "who reads"

I can neither know nor imagine the scene of the ad, that is, how the actor reads his script but a super must be something that is animate, because only an animate thing can read something! am I wrong? well, there is something nonsense with reading "magnum" so ı am nor sure about it but ı am sure about the meaning of super, right?

'who reads' yerine 'that reads' kullanılmış olması bundandır...belki.
sadece bir fikir tabii
selamlar.

@handy actually a sign or text can be read by a person or can read '...'
'...' being whatever the text contains

hi, kafetzou

This is 1) a partial text that is cut off at the end and 2) it has a word in it that I don't understand in this context: "super". I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. Maybe Tantine or Ian could help out?

Aha - I did a little research and discovered that it seems to be a film-industry term that means "superimposed text" - in other words, the text is visible over whatever else is on the screen.

So maybe "resimin önünde görünen bir metin".

Yup. That's what they call "subtitles" here in Japan -- "supers" -- and it seems the most reasonable explanation.
I think we can safely say
...a super that reads 'magnum
means
...some text printed on the screen, that begins "magnum..."

thank you very much, kafetzou and Professor Ian!

No no no - it's not a "subtitle"! Ian just said that's what they call them in Japan. It's a word or words superimposed on the image that's on the screen.

For example, each of these videos, done by my boyfriend, starts with a "super".

then, we'll change a word only...

'Reklam 'Magnum' yazan bir metinle baÅŸlar.'

instead of 'metin' we can use just 'yazı' :

'Reklam 'Magnum' yazısı ile başlar.'
