"Them": lit. "the two of them" ("grandmother" and "grandfather", or the old lady and the old man)

"Momotaro" : this is translated in some versions of this tale, usually as "Peach Boy" (sometimes as "Peach John")

"and took very good care of him": lit. "and wow, wow, did they ever take good care of him"

"When Momotaro ate one bowl of rice, he grew a little bigger, and when he ate two bowls of rice, he grew twice as much bigger": lit. "when he ate one bowl of rice, he grew as much bigger as one bowl of rice, when he ate two bowls of rice, he grew as much bigger as two bowls of rice"

"Helped out with work on the mountain": with the old man's job, i.e. collecting firewood.

"This is a very special child" : lit. "this is a very rare child"
