Half-meyallic ferromagnets are believed to be an approach in achieving high performance in spintronics, because they have only one electronic spin channel at the Fermi energy and therefore may show nearly 100% spin polarization at quite hight temperature. Since the discovery of the Groot et al. in 1983, many half-metallic ferromagnets have been theoretically predicted and some of them further have been confirmed experimentally. For spintronic applications, anyway, it is highly desirable to explore new promising half-metallic ferromagnetic materials that are compatible with important III-V and II-VI semiconductors.
