Our farm is situated near the river Hármas-Körös, where local farmers have been doing irrigated farming for decades now. There are extensive rice sites in this area. You can find canals all over, you can find everything from main canals, deluge canals to drains. Unfortunately, the canals are not in a very good technical condition, however they are still operational. The canal system was developed in order to supply surface irrigation corresponding to rice cultivation; however irrigation from drums by water cannons or watering consoles. We get irrigation water from the river Hármas-Körös through several water pump installations.
Fortunately, there is no problem with water quality, as Körös is still one of the cleanest rivers of Hungary. Its flow is also adequate, it can fulfill future needs together with the watercourse from Kisköre through East-Main Canal. Its salty content also shows good results, this way it does not endangers soils. It is especially good for irrigation. You can find data about water quality in the following chart:
