Last messages | | | | | 14 July 2007 03:35 | | | What's "run by"? Do you mean "run it by" (= ask for HSBC's approval)? | | | 14 July 2007 07:40 | | | I know. The sentence misses "it", both in the translation and the swedish source text. I agree.
Although it is a question whether to follow the original properly.
In swedish the sentence should be: "Nästa gång skall jag köra DET via HSBC". "DET" is a demonstrative pronoun that is equal with "it". As "DET" is missing in the source text sentence I cannot add it in the english text. It might seem improper but, what to do?...
/Best wishes | | | 14 July 2007 15:07 | | | The only problem is that it's ambiguous in English. Without "it", it seems like it means "I'll go to HSBC quickly" - is this also the case in Swedish? | | | 14 July 2007 15:14 | | | Yes. The used word "kör" means both 'go','drive','run' and 'process'. The last sentence could as well be translated to: "Next time I´ll drive thru HSBC" or "Next time I´ll go via HSBC". Quite ambiguous as we don´t have the whole sentence! Do as you please!
