I think there are a few mistakes here (correct me if I'm wrong! ):

Anadolu'da isn't translated
Çağ - century, instead of age

Halk arasında daha çok "Belkıs Harabeleri" olarak anılan - Better (-daha) known (by people) as 'Belkıs ruins'.

Hi Chantal!
We can`t translate ilk cag ---first century, because we are talking about
ancient history ....Before Christ
This event came somewhere around 300 B.C.
First century starts 300 years later.
One of the most well-known cities of the..... first age OR ancient history?

Orta cag, I mean medieval period is named Middle Age, isn`t it?
Ilk cag can be "ancient history"
I don`t know, I`m not quite sure about "first age", about period.

Anadolu = Anatolia

"commonly known" diyerek" halk arasında" anlamını verdiğimi sanıyorum.

first age konusunda araştırma yaptım, bana da tuhaf geldi ama öğrendim ki, ilk çağ ingilizce'de öyle kullanılıyor.

öneriler için teşekkür ederim

Well... nor 1st, neiter 2nd century BC. We are talking about the 3rd one (300 years Before Christ -at least-).

Aspendus was an ancient city founded around 1000 B.C. The ancient world indicates that, in the 5th century B.C.,
Aspendus had become the most important city in Pamphylia. In 333 B.C. Aspendus paid Alexander the Great a levy to avoid being garrisoned, but it ignored its agreements with him and later was occupied.

In my opinion ancient period is- the historical period -before the 2`nd Century BC
I not sure about first age`s period (because middle age starts somewhere around 500 After Chris lasted till the fall of Constantinopole in 1453) ..., but silkworm16 says that first age is ok for this ancied period, she made investigations and I trust her.

Anadolu'da ilk çağın ünlü şehirlerinden olan Aspendos

Aspendos, which is one of the famous cities of ancient history in Anatolia, ....

I think this should be the correct translation. If you look at wikipedia then ilk cag is translated with ancient history. I think that whether it is 300 bc or 2000 bc isn't very relevant, it's relevant that it's a famous city from ancient times..

Kafetzou, could you pls have a quick look at our 'problem'? What would ilk çağ refer to? Ancient history or 'first age'? Does there exist such a thing as first age? thnx

I think "ancient history" is the best translation for "ilk çağ", even though it literally means "first period", but there is not such thing in English.

BTW, it's "thousands of visitors", not "hundreds"!
