| Faroe Islands has a kind of autonomy. The police, law system and air teritory are Danish, the rest of the authorities are Faroese or, at least a big part of them. It exist a parliament (the oldest in the world, I believe, is more than 1000 years old) and a prime-minister. Some of the laws are Farose, even though the court and the constitution are Danish. The Danish laws must been aproved by the parliament first, in order to be applied. The Coast Guard is Faroese and there is no army. By the way, men don't do army service, only if they want to volunteer for the Danish army.
It's a little bit special. For example, I had to apply for rezidence in Denmark, even though I've got work permit and rezidence permit ONLY for Faroe Islands. On the other hand, when I'll apply for Faroese citizenship, I'll get automatically the Danish one, too.
There are people who wish complete independency, maybe someday will happen. |

| Goncin, you said this: the respective posting tax for each destination.
Well, here was one tax to Brazil and another to the international cards, weird!
And it's good to see the stamp that is on it, cute! I didn't see that...
Hey Chantal, about what you wrote in Goncin's card, well, I think we can always send cards and letters huh? Not only having a time to do that, this was a great idea.
Now, using Nina's and Francky's idea, I'll write letters and inside it I'll put the cards... This seems better for moi. |

goncinNumber of messages: 3706 | Thatha,
The taxes I paid were something like these:
Inside Brazil: R$ 0,60
Countries in Europe: R$ 2,00
China: R$ 2,10
USA: R$ 1,60
In short: higher taxes for further places. |
| 18 October 2007 16:04 |
| Noooossaaa!
Here was inside Brazil: R$ 0,65
Outside Brazil: R$ 0,85
If you want, send me the cards... it would be cheaper... eheheh.
This month I'll go to a school trip and there could have some cards... It's a beautiful mountain. |

| Today I sent postcards to Una Smith, Ivelina, Chiara and Angelo, and I'll send one to MATPIGAN tomorrow. Sorry if you're stamps collectors, this time I bought enveloppes for international and it is prepaid (stamp is printed on it) Next time I'll come back to the plain old stamps (collection ones)! |
| 19 October 2007 10:30 |
| I read goncin's post about postal rates. Today I bought 10 international prepaid enveloppes for 9 euro; these enveloppes are valid throughout the world. so that if you use them for Belgium or any other neighbour country the rate is a little bit higher than with the regular stamping, but if you send mail to USA, Brazil or China, I think rate of it is lower than regular stamping. Then post(wo)men don't bother to look how much it costs on their computer (except if weight of the mail is exceeding 20g). My only regret was about the plain ol' stamps (appreciated by collectors). So that after all, I don't think I'll keep on using this kind of enveloppes, even if it's much more handy for post(wo)men. I prefer good old stamps, with -often- very beautiful drawings printed on them (as far as you ask for these "collection" stamps, because if you don't you'll get ugly ones) ... |
| 18 October 2007 23:33 |
| Yes, I think stamped cards are better than sealed ones. I find some posts including mine, were not with stamps, but with seals indicating the rates.
In my postoffice, there is no difference to send a card from China to Brazil or to France, that is to say, all rates from China to foreign lands are the same: RMB4.50 Yuan. But sometimes, they stick stamps, sometimes they only affix seals.
Next time, I will urge them to send with completely stamps, because the seals are not collectible. |

But I don't have the wisdom to understand why you call me "Mr. Fix Ideas"? |

| OK.
I'll post on 'name meaning forum", but believe me, it's a very very boring story and there's absolutelly nothing to do with Brasil (maybe just a little).
