We have this discussion about how boring Georgian is in a swedish forum. I like the sound of the words, but...monotone.

Hi Cisa
Aha... I didn't think of it in that way, you mean that it's so ordinary?
but...hey, what if there only was the smal (may be funny) languages in the world...we could not comunicate between countries then, not so good anyway. I think that I just mean that if somebody get a big laugh when they hear for an examle swedish...that's much better than if a language make them cry

Casper, I wouldn't say Georgian is boring, they have a particular tonality though, the tempo in which they speak makes me think of the Kalashnikovs they are talking about. Fortunately, that's the only word I get.

Pias,
I knew it would be so! Still, I pasted in the link for request.

Guilon,
interestingly, when I got that link to that Basque song from you, it really reminded me of Hungarian, it was a very nice experience, not to feel so alone- lingvistically! (Of course, they are no relatives, but for some time, it was believed so and who knows? )

I wouldn't say that it's boring too, Guilon. I said it's monotone.

A propos Norwegian: Do you have problems with understanding it, or is it very easy for you, as well as understanding Danish? Because I've recently met a Norwegian who told me, it was about the same as Austrian and German (spoken by Germans) - there are differences in pronounciation (and also some words) but it's still mainly the same.

Yes Heidrun...it's easy to understand
harder to write (or talk) for a not native like me I just mean that it SOUNDS like many "ups and downs", same as you mentioned about french..

Folks,

The monkey wrench is just a tool, but may become a weapon in case of misuse.

OK, that is a silly metaphor, but I think is good to have it on our minds. The admin job is as useful as dangerous. Use with care.
