Die Kirche verbindet die Stile Gotik, Romanik, Rokoko und Neuzeit. Die Kirche kann auÃŸerhalb des religiÃ¶sen Dienstes kostenlos besucht werden. Die Geschichte des Heiligen Gangolfs ist schwach beurkundet. Der burgundische Aristokrat war in 716 geboren und wurde in 760 ermordet. Er wurde in Portugal und Spanien, spÃ¤ter auch in Deutschland, als MÃ¤rtyrer angebetet. Eine Reliquie des Heiligen Gangolfs (ein Teil seines Hauptes) befindet sich im Besitz des Bamberger Kirchenschatzes.
