hi francky
It is Hebrew, altough highly colloqual - nearly streat spoken language, which prescribed into text in a very unuseall fashion
one addtess his friend named ro'ee (comon Israeli name), surprised by color or dye (tzeva), and the end of sentence is - kind of a swear: zevel - garbage, been told in a friendly fashion

Thanks a lot Ittai! so it reads "Ro'ee, yaaa ai za tseva zevelll"!
As it is in "meaning only", I'll leave this text be translated.

Toda rabah lehitrahot khaver!

Shalom Ittai and Franky,

I am sorry but this is confusing. Through his answer to you Franky, Ittai has more or less "translated" this Hebrew text, yet the text is still there to be translated... why hasn't Ittai just translated it for good and be done with this request???

I mean, what more can another translator add here? Not much I think.

Shalom Aspiebrain! Well, it doesn't really matter if Ittai nearly translated it; before he answered I had put this request in stand-by because I wasn't sure at all it made some sense in Hebrew.
But as Ittai confirmed it did, I've set this translation request free and anyone who wants can translate it. I wouldn't personaly, as my level in Hebrew is very low and I'm still not sure wether it is about some hair dying or some clothes...

From the sentence here it is not clear if it's about hair or clothes it just mentions the color, and the commment is only about that!

I translated it, but instead of carbage I used the word trash, which means more or less the same but sounds more slang = street spoken...

By the way Francky, I just noticed you are one of my sponsors, what does that mean? You gave me these points mentioned? Thanks!!! ... but how come?

Maybe was it for another translation, as I thinbk we already "met" here, didn't we? (but sorry I can't remind about which translation it was) It happens I give some points to some translators for one reason or another. But here, as your translation isn't validated yet, I don't know.
Wow, it's late, I've got to leave now! I'll see you later and we'll try to understand these given points (there's certainly a reason).
lehitrahot khavera!

Hey Francky & AspieBrain
The translation is ok, apart from "yeah".
It should be more of a disgust gesture/sound, and "yeah" is positive.

Idadi ya ujumbe: 773
Thinking about it again it could also mean "wow", but definitely not "yeah"

27 Agosti 2008 16:21

AspieBrain
Idadi ya ujumbe: 212
wow is far more possitive than yeah. yeah is neutral and can have a tone of boredom in it, too. If you want a negative tone then the yeah should be yuck, which has a tone of disgust!

no, wow can be a surprise, negative or positive

AspieBrain
Idadi ya ujumbe: 212
Ok, so which will it be? You say "wow" and I say "yeah". Who decides what is better?

I feel the "yeah" should stay unless someone else also objects the "yeah" I chose.

Does that sound fair enough?

What's that aggressiveness?

I'm trying to help...

AspieBrain you can use whatever you wish, I couldn't care less - ok?

Actually I do.
I think "wow" can be used, as Milkman said, to express surprise no matter the kind. It's more neutral.

AspieBrain

"What's that aggressiveness?

AspieBrain you can use whatever you wish, I couldn't care less - ok?"

What is the matter with you? No one ever contradicted your words before? You are not used to people having a different opinion than you?

what is exactly aggressive in my reply? The fact that I did not go "OH let's use wow cause milkman said it?"

Grow up!

28 Agosti 2008 07:39

AspieBrain
Idadi ya ujumbe: 212
Since the translation must be as close to the original word as possible then the exact translation would be "Yaaa" as that is what it says in the Hebrew text ( יאאא) and there is no Hebrew word "Yeah" so they obviously used an English word, and that is why I also used "yeah"

So why is there a need to change that to wow? The original text says "yaaa."

And what seems to you as aggression is simply clear logic. Sorry, but I do not involve emotions in my conversations. I operate only with logic. Give me a logical reason to support your opinion.

AspieBrain, come on. This yeah/wow/whatever thing doesn't worth the fight.

I'm truly sorry for my harsh reaction earlier, and I really think we should drop it and concentrate our energies on things that are really worth fighting over (god knows there are so many of these). Truce?

28 Agosti 2008 09:27

AspieBrain
Idadi ya ujumbe: 212
I do not understand why you keep using such negative words "worth the fight", "worth fighting over", "truce"... since I am not fighting but discussing, debating whether yeah or wow should be used.

That is all. A healthy debate of minds. There is no need for a truce as there was never a war here. At least that is how I feel. No milk spilled dear milkman ;-P
