That sounds estrange in English. What about this?
"By seeing your name I noticed/found out/learned that we are namesakes"
| | | 18 Setembro 2008 08:04 | | jaq84Número de mensagens: 568 | It did sound strange to me too.
And for the past days I was thinking about changing it to something like what you've suggested.
But I hesitated.
I shall edit it I know.
Thanx for giving me a second chance | | | 18 Setembro 2008 15:18 | | C.K.Número de mensagens: 173 | Hi jaq84,
I think that you're missing a word
ÙŠØªØ¶Ø Ø£Ù†Ù‡ = appears that
Also, I didn't see "By seeing" in Arabic, it's "through", so here what I suggest:
Through your name appears that we've got the same name / we are namesakes.
What do you both think? | | | 18 Setembro 2008 21:18 | | jaq84Número de mensagens: 568 | You know what C.K
I hated this text! Really!
And after I did it for the first time I wished there was a way to cancel my translation!
I hope we can enjoy this bliss oneday.
When I first translated it, it started like this:
"Through reading your name it shows...."
Because the text litteraly started with "through".(I'm getting the bad habit of being too litteral!!!!!!)
And you can see that I've added the word reading out there for clarity, why?
if you do a little search on google you'll find that "through your name" is a title of a song that goes like that:
"Through your name I can do all things"
So, through here took a totally different meaning than the one we want.
But still that didn't sound like english to me, and that was what Lilian assured me of.
Her suggestion for the translation appealed to me,
It was both English spoken and logical!

I found that it's too difficult to know when to translate literally and when to translate logically, many of my translations got rejected cause they were translated literally - and when I translate logically I get comments or it get rejected cause they say: I didn't see this "word" in the submitted translation!!!
Therefore, I always ask to share before rejecting. Sometimes I even share before voting yes/no on a translation that asks my opinion.
Back to our translation, I don't see it wrong, I see it logic translation but how can we know if that what the submitter wants?

people say, by your name i found out we have the same father! not that we share the same name, DUH! no no, this is one so bad original, so dont worry about the translation i say, anything works CC: lilian canale | | | 20 Setembro 2008 07:13 | | jaq84Número de mensagens: 568 | Thanx Elmota,
