Aliquando tamen istum librum chronicum Sacrae Scripturae appellamus, iuxta consonantiam Hebraici nominis. Sic dicitur in prologo Galeato Hierony. super libros regum s. septimus Dibrehaiamim. i. verba dierum, qui significantius exordium totius divinae historiae possumus appellare, qui liber apud nos Paralipomenon primus, & secundus inscibitur.

In the other historical books of the Holy Scripture many things that really fit the aim of the Holy Scripture have been omitted, but they were put in this book, therefore the one who looks out carefully will find here what is missing in single passages in the other books. And because this is the name which is suitable to this book, according to its characteristics, the Latins kept this name, even if it is Greek, not taking into account the Jewish name. Sometimes, however, we call this book “Book of Chronicles” according to the consonance with the Jewish name. So it is said by Hieronymus in the Prologus Galeatus about the Books of the Kings. The seventh book is Dibrehaiamim, namely “The words of the days”, which we can call a very distinctive beginning of the whole divine history, a book that is titled for us the First and the Second Book of Paralipomenon.
Notes sobre la traducció
"Inscibitur" doesn't exist, so it has been read "inscribitur".

Hi Efylove,

I've made some edits regarding the syntax, but there's one part that I don't understand: "not taking care of the Jewish name."

What do you mean?

That the Latins chose the Greek name (Paralipomenon) and they didn't care about the Jewish name (Dibrehaiamim).
Maybe you can adjust the sentence? It's quite a difficul text to translate...

I had to change a bit because I've noticed a mistake. I have misread the adverb "nimis", which is "too much", and I've put an unnecessary negation.
So "that didn't fit" --> "that fit too much".

Hi Efylove,

I've edited with "not taking into account"

But the edit you made:
"...many things that fit too much the aim of the Holy Scripture have been omitted", doesn't sound well...

I suggest: "really/perfectly fit"
What do you think?

Ok. I've checked: "nimis" is also "very much, really".

Very good translation, Efee!
The last sentence is really weird to me (and I'm not sure of it), but I can give you some suggestions:

The sixth book (is) Dibrehaiamim --> The seventh book is Dibrehaiamim

distinctive opening --> distinctive beginning

Ok! Thanks. I've misread "sixth"...
