Traducerea - Ebraicã-Olandeză - Waar elohim ki tov meod

Hallo Nathan,
Volgens mij ben je hier meod (very) vergeten:
en God zag hat het heel goed was.
Dat staat natuurlijk niet op die manier in Genesis 1 maar hetzelfde geldt voor de Engelse en, voor zover ik kan zien, voor de Hebreeuwse tekst. Verder prima

Lein, je moet niet "perfect" vertalen hé.
Je mag er je eigen "draai" aan geven, en persoonlijk vind ik - omdat er verwezen werd naar de Genesis 1 - dat het op deze manier moet vermeld worden.

OK, ik heb er een poll van gemaakt.
Maar let wel: de verwijzing naar Genesis staat in de Engelse vertaling, niet in het Hebreeuwse origineel!

Daar heb je een punt, maar toch..
Hier op cucumis moet niet altijd alles letterljk vertaald worden hé, sommige experts geven trouwens betere punten als je een "draai" geeft aan je vertalingen.

Als Estisch expert kom ik ook het vaak tegen.
Soms zijn de minder letterlijke vertalingen beter dan als ze letterlijk vertaald worden.
En zo staat het dus in de Genesis.

Me and Lein have a different opinion about this translation.
The translation from english into dutch should be:
"And God saw that it was VERY good"
Literally translated it should be:
"En God zag dat het ZEER goed was", but in the genesis they say: "God zag dat het goed was.."

Which one should I take then, the one standing in the genesis, or just the perfect translation?

As far as I can see, Genesis doesn't have 'meod' whereas the Hebrew text to be translated here does.

Yes, Lein is right, translation from the Hebrew text above is : "...very good".

Personally I think the translation should be "zeer goed" (or in other languages "sehr gut", in english "very good"
Why? I ask for a translation of words/sentence not by the Holy Book. Reading all the comments I find that making a twist to this translation (because somebody else did... in this case a translator of the bible) is not the correct point of view. The word MEOD is mentioned in my request for translation, and therefore it should be part of it.
Not to mention that I do not like the idea of people making twists because experts possibly give more points for these translations.... :-(

Glad everyone seems to agree on this now!
If it is not possible to translate literally, for example in the case of expressions, any translation needs to be somewhat free because a literal translation would not have the same meaning. This translation however allows for literal translation without the loss of the original meaning which is why the experts consulted have all insisted on putting the translation for 'meod' in, rather than following Genesis and leave it out.
