English would be "Love and frienship break the biggest distances from our lifes". BUT I guess she/he wanted to say :"between our lifes"(or not ) | | | 23 Octombrie 2007 15:53 | | guilonNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1549 | Please Freya, give us a clue about why this translation is wrong in your opinion. Thank you.
Por favor Freya, danos una idea de por qué piensas que esta traducción es errónea. Gracias. | | | 23 Octombrie 2007 15:57 | | guilonNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1549 | | | | 23 Octombrie 2007 16:10 | | FreyaNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1910 | OK...The preposition I think is the wrong one."EN nuestras vidas" doesn't mean "in our lifes"? The preposition used in the original is "din" which would equivalate in Spanish with "de" or "desde" (but "desde" it has somethong to do with location : "desde la ventana veo a un hombre" ..so here is not "en", but "de" ...sorry, i don't know how to express myself better | | | 23 Octombrie 2007 16:09 | | guilonNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1549 | I understand what you are meaning.
"Desde" doesn't match here. I would say "entre", but "entre nuestras vidas" sounds imprecise. And besides, "más largas distancias" sounds awkward too. A Spanish speaker would say it like this:
"El amor y la amistad rompen las MAYORES distancias ENTRE TU VIDA Y LA MÃA"
Freya does this sentence I just wrote respect the sense of the Romanian text? CC: Freya | | | 23 Octombrie 2007 16:20 | | FreyaNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1910 | The "las mayores" part is good and "entre tu vida y la mÃa", it was just my opinion about what Taz wanted to say.Actually, the original also sounds strange with this preposition "din" and "dintre" (between) sounds better. All in all I think your idea is good with "El amor y la amistad rompen las mayores distancias entre tu vida y la mÃa." Maybe Taz would like to give more info about his text. | | | 24 Octombrie 2007 04:05 | | anealinNumărul mesajelor scrise: 35 | sorry for messing in.. but I was thinking about the preposition "de", but the variant "de" as the equivalent to "within" or "that appear in the course of our life" still made me stop. I agree with the variant "mayores" o sea "grandes" aunque largas sounds weird for the Spanish-speaking person, it refers to the length (reflected as well odd in the Romanian original). I still do not believe that "la mia y la tua" is the equivalent appropriate for the sourse text given. The phrase doesn't sound like an sms of a passionate lover, it referes surely to a general and philosophical thought regarding lifes of all people. Consider: "Todo puede pasar en nuestras vidas"/anything may happen in our lifes". But the choice is yours and yours alone.
Thank you for the comments. | | | 25 Octombrie 2007 23:51 | | guilonNumărul mesajelor scrise: 1549 | It's up to Lila F now. This is a weird turn of speech in Spanish, but never mind, it's just a meaning only. |
