I "systranned" the Dutch phrase and it the response I got was "is terrible". Does the Dutch have the same positive use of the word "terrible" as the French?
I've set a poll

Im not sure ive understood your question fully. But 'Het is geweldig' is in English 'It is great.'
'Is terrible' would be a negative use of the word, in stead of a positive use.
A bientot
Appeltaart | | | 25 April 2008 17:50 | | | Hi Tantine,
In Dutch it should be "Het is geweldig". In Dutch, we always use a subject in a sentence. And Appeltaart translated it right as "It is great" (in the sense of wonderful).
Terrible would be just the opposite, more like horrible. In Dutch it would be translated as "Het is vreselijk".
I hope this helps.

Ok thanks, I'll validate this but first I want to explain that normally, here on cucumis, we do not translate single words or partial phrases unless the requestor explains why the translation is needed.
As you have not been a member very long you probably did not know this rule yet.
