| I have waited for the New Year | | Target language: English
Hello,
I waited for the beginning of the New Year to come in order to resume negotiations. I would like you to send us the list of prices, if possible, and inform us if you have any launchings.
We are very interested in the products of your company, and we believe that this is the right time to strenghten a deeper business relationship.
Looking forward to your contact,
Yours truly,

There are some corrections to be made here. I'll use bold so that you can see them more clearly, OK?

Thank you for your suggestions. Very good ones. I have done most of the changes. I only have two things I am not entirly sure of.
1. strenghten a deeper... : I am not sure if 'strenghten a deeper...' sounds good in English. Maybe I am mistaken, but somehow this group of words doesn't sound right to me. If we are to keep 'strenghten', what about: "right time to make a deeper and stronger business relationship"?
2. contact: shouldn't be "contacting", because of the 'looking forward', which always asks for -ing form?
I appreciate your taking the time to work on my translation. It is exciting to experience translating from Portuguese
Tzicu | | | 7 February 2009 17:44 | | | "firmar um laço comercial mais profundo"
It may sound weird to your ears, but the way this line was structured renders:
"strenghten a deeper business relationship." It looks stilted in Portuguese too.
About that rule for "looking forward" you mention...it's not exactly the way you think.
What must take "ing" is a verb after it, not a noun.
I mean you say:
"I look forward to hearing from you", but
"I look forward to your answer"
So, please edit your text so that we can validate it. | | | 7 February 2009 18:50 | | | Ok Lilly, I have done the editing.
Thank you,
