Você me apareceu
Text
Submitted by scionblue
Source language: Portaingéilis (na Brasaíle)

Você me apareceu
Fez o tudo virar nada
E vice-versa
Foi submersa
A azeitona na empada que era eu
Você é dona do caroço
Da azeitona da empada que comeu

Você me apareceu
Fez o nada virar tudo
Me deixou mudo
De tão tamanha
'Cê me acanha
Minha estranha
É o prazer de que sempre padeço
É do fim começo e reconheço
Que o avesso sempre esteve aqui

Minha estranha
É o engano de minha certeza
É o insano que há na beleza
A tristeza que me faz sorrir
Remarks about the translation
Uma canção popular no Brasil traduzido em Inglês Estados-Unidos.

Title
You appeared to me
Translation
English

Translated by lilian canale
Target language: English

You appeared to me
Made everything become nothing
And the other way round
It was submerged
The olive in the pie that was me
You are the owner of the pit
Of the olive in the pie you ate

You appeared to me
Made the nothing become everything
Left me speechless
For being such
You make me shy
My strange
You are the pleasure that makes me suffer
The beginning of the end, I recognize
That the reverse has always been here

My strange
You are the mistake of my certainty
The craziness that is in the beauty
The sadness that makes me smile
Remarks about the translation
Tough one!

I chose "You are", but "É" may also be "It is", it's not clear in the original. Lyrics are always ambiguous.

"You are" is ok because he is reffering to a woman (I think). In the first phrase you could use something like "You show up to me"sounds better.
Thank you..

Thanks for your input Kaumer
I still prefer "appeared", it sounds more "poetic", remember that this is a song

Thank you very much Lillian. I am learning Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish (a novice)and I first am translating songs that I like into english. But this song, when I began translating it, made no sense at all. So I knew I was doing something wrong or the phrases were of a cultural meaning that I have no way of understanding unless asking a Br Portuguese speaker.

P.S. The Belladona Summer Club Remix of this song is great!

You're welcome

Poems and lyrics are quite difficult to translate, you know. The first because of the rhyme and the second because of the regional vocabulary used sometimes.
I'm glad you appreciate Brazilian music, it is extremely rich, indeed. However it can be tricky too
In some cases we are able to translate the words, but their strength may be lost.

Welcome to

O que está sendo votado aqui é a versão em inglês não o original em português.
