| | Hello Gamine,
well, I don´t understand a word of the original version in Turkish and I find the English version quite clumsy ("something that is the memory of yours" - I wonder what that is supposed to mean?). Therefore it´s also quite difficult to evaluate the Danish version because I don´t really understand that sentence (the one I mentioned above). The English version doesn´t say "Noget der er i din erindring" (= "something that is IN your memory" but rather "Noget der er din erindring" ). I have to admit, though, that I have no idea which of the two version is the correct one..... :-)

| | p0mmes_frites and serba:
does the Turkish version say: Something that is IN your memory
or
Something that is your memory
Or maybe something else...? |

| | Hi Anita,
Maybe I can help with the English version.
"I remember all my words, something that is the memory of yours "
That "yours" we understood as "your words".

| | Hi Lilian, Hi Anita
I think this one "word by word" looks like this :
Each word in my mind, memory of your, something inside me is dying in agony, I was defeated at last, this end of dry cold, spring which I’m waiting for, My rose is wilting. |

thanks a lot for your help! I´m still wondering, though, what "memory of your" means - does it refer to "memory of your words"? Or should it be "memory of you" (meaning: memories of that person who is being referred to as "you" )

| | Anita,
(I have a) memory of you = you is the person who he is speaking with.
Hope this help.

| | Hi guys,
The English version was done by a Turkish expert. Serba, who masters English very well. It was set to a poll where it got only positive votes and that's why it was accepted the way it is.
As I said before what is understood in English is that "yours" refers to "your words" or the sentence would be wrong, indeed.
The source text in Turkish is not very clear either, therefore the translation turned out quite confusing. But I don't think it is wrong. It just reflects the source.
Anita, I'm sure you understand what I'm saying. If you find that the Danish version you have to evaluate is far from the English version, simply don't take the last into account and set a poll. Turkish users may help you. |

| gamineNumber of messages: 4611 | Hi Anita and Liliane :3 Noget der var i din erindring" was in the English translation and I find it unfair to say that my translation is not to be taken into account. It conveys the English translation. |

| | Oh gamine,
It's not your translation the one she shouldn't take into account, but the English one!
Otherwise why would I say to set a poll for your translation?

| | Gamine:
if we say the English translation is indeed "faithful" to the original text, then
"I remember all my words, something that is the memory of yours is in the death agony"
should be translated to something like:
"Jeg kan huske alle mine ord. Noget der er i mindet om dine ord, er i dødens smerte."
Hvad synes du? |

| | PS: I have set the poll.
I must say, though, that I don´t expect this to help much as there is usually no response at all to my Turkish-Danish polls..... |
