The present dissertation has the aim to show that the thought of Alexis of Tocqueville assumed a republican inclination in the era of the Human Renaissance. He criticizes the individualism of the democratic society, whose concept, guidelines and attitudes are going to be exposed. Tocqueville put himself on the trail which goes through the revaluation of a republican subject called civic virtues. This is his way to handle the fact, that liberty becomes different in the liberal circles in the 19th century.
