Hello,
to a
Dear Sir/Madam,
?
Are there other ways to indicate a more formal
Dear Sir/Madam
in Turkish, and did the writer actually choose to not use them, preferring
Merhabalar
for reasons of warmth, friendliness or informality, perhaps?
Also, one more: does
I cannot reach
mean
I cannot obtain
?

| | Wow - what synchronicity again - just as I was reading your first post above, I was thinking, how about "get at"? I will change it. As for changing the form of address, I don't think so, as it is not that way in the original. |

| | Yay! Pretty soon we'll be able to dispense with this messaging stuff altogether, and just send thoughts back and forth! Talk about efficiency! ;;
Hi ho, hi ho...

and
"tüm bilgilerini bilemediğim eski mail adresim ile değişmesini (değiştirilmesini) istiyorum" means she wants the new mail adress to be changed with the former one
and a "thanks" doesn't exist in the original but maybe "to your attention/information". |

1) I don't understand "tüm ödeme bilgilerimin içinde bulunduğu hesabımda kayıtlı olan mail adresinin bilgilerine." Can you break it down into parts? What does "içinde" go with?
2)I don't understand what you mean with "she wants the new mail adress to be changed with the former one" - what is "changed with"?
3) I translated "bilginize" as "thank you for your attention to this matter", because we don't close letters with "for you information" in English - we only put that at the beginning. If you can think of a better solution to this problem, it would be welcome!
To insegnante:
Your English needs a bit of work here, but thanks for trying.

| smyAnzahl der Beiträge: 2481 | I can't think of a way to break it down into parts but it means in alternative words: "tüm ödeme bilgilerimi içeren hesabımda kayıtlı olan mail adresinin bilgilerine"
"changed with"="ile deÄŸiÅŸtirilmesini"
or "to be replaced with" if it's meaningless..
"I'd like all of the information to be changed over from..." means "...tüm bilgilerin değiştirilmesini" not "adresimin değiştirilmesini"
|
| | 26 Oktober 2007 13:35 |
| | "to be changed over" means "to be transfered", not "to be changed".
"ile deÄŸiÅŸtirilmesini" = "be exchanged with" |

| | Oysa bu ne demek? Anlayamadım.
tüm bilgilerini bilemediğim eski mail adresim ile değişmesini istiyorum
Literally: I want all of the information to change with my old e-mail address, which I can't know.
But this makes no sense in English - doesn't he want his e-mail address changed on all of his information? Please help me with this, smy - I'm lost. |

| | Sorry about that -- I thought you guys were finished, and so many people (9, I think) had agreed that it was okay, I just went ahead and validated it!
Let me know if you want any modifications made, and I'll be happy to make them for you!
(Not that you couldn't do them yourself, of course; I just thought for the sake of form, I could leave my name there for you as having last edited/validated it, if you'd it prefer that way.)CC: kafetzou |

Anyway, I'm here if you change your mind! |

| smyAnzahl der Beiträge: 2481 | Sorry everybody, I didn't have access to internet for about 15 hours, now it's too late for suggestions but I'll try to answer your question Kafetzou (since the writer isn't a native Turkish speaker (I know that from the forums), her text is a bit complicated):
1. "Tüm ödeme bilgilerine sahip olduğum hesabımda kayıtlı olan mail adresinin bilgilerine elimde olmayan nedenlerden dolayı ulaşamıyorum" so you understand from this paragraph that she cannot get to her payment info and she cannot access to her e-mail address ("I cannot get at any of my payment information, because for reasons unknown to me, I cannot access the e-mail address that I use for my account" , but there is only one thing that she cannot reach: mail adresinin bilgileri (the information of the mail address)and where is this mail address: it's in her account and this account contains/has all of her payment information (tüm ödeme bilgilerine sahip olduğum hesabımda) and her address is registered in this account.
2."... yeni mail adresimi size vereceğim ve tüm bilgilerini bilemediğim eski mail adresim ile değişmesini istiyorum":
you understand here that it means "bilgilerini değişmesini istiyorum". if it meant that it would be "bilgilerinin değişmesini istiyorum" so it means "yeni mail adresimin eski mail adresimle değişmesini istiyorum" and she isn't able to know all of information in this former address (tüm bilgilerini bilemediğim eski adresim...). this text means she wants her new address to be exchanged with former one. I hope it's clear, I'm so sorry I was late.
regards!
