Still, that translation calls it an "uterine lump tumor." By using this same concept on the Japanese, it would be quite different from what you were meaning to say. Japanese are a bit less idealistic, so they would take it literally. The translation I provided is literally "teratoma," as it would be pronounced. I anticipate that this topic will be discussed by people used to medical terminology, and that this translation will be understood by the material in which it's found. |

18 Mars 2007 16:48 | | | Ah. Then the Chinese 畸胎瘤 is not adequate, because I need the technical term for teratoma, which is a concept of histology, not of location. Teratomas often do occur in the ovaries and testes, but also occur elsewhere.
Duffie, Is there a Japanese term other than the transliteration you have given? Perhaps a traditional or folk term, as exists in some other languages? For example, teratoma has other names in several European languages: "dermoid cyst" and "fetus in fetu" (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teratoma and on that page interwiki links to equivalent pages for other languages.)
