| | "the moment has ended, it is over" doesn't seem correct.. )and it doesn't give the same meaning with the original one.. ) |

| | Hi all
Smy - I'm sorry but your literal translation does not convey the slightest meaning in English.
I will ask Kafetzou to come and help out here, she has more ease with Turkish than I do
I feel like I'm going round and round in circles with this one

| | maybe:
The one who left, has left, the second she/he left, has passed. I did not lose /her/him, rather she/he lost me. |
| | 21 Februari 2008 16:17 |
| | I think it's supposed to be poetic:
He's gone.
The moment he left is over.
I didn't lose him - he lost me.
(could also be she) |

| | I'd prefer to keep 'he's gone...' .
Tantine, why do you prefer 'he's left...'? |
| | 21 Februari 2008 18:53 |
| | That's my opinion: ''he/she is gone, the second it's over, he/she is gone. I don't lose who is gone, but who is gone... have lost me...''
|
| | 21 Februari 2008 20:07 |
| | he's left, the second is finished, left, I did not lose him, it is him which lost me. |

| | Hi All
Kafetzou - thanks, now it makes more sense
Diego - I didn't prefer left to gone, I was just trying to find a wording that didn't feel clumsy in English.
If no-one minds I will edit as per Kafetzou's suggestions and then validate. |

| | the instant he left is over |
| | 23 Februari 2008 00:36 |
He/she/It left ,(...)

| | Hi All
I have edited in trying to incorporate most people's suggestions.
I have put an alternative in the comments box.
I have reset a poll.
Since this is a "meaning only" request, I think we are floccinaucinihilifipilicating her so, unless someone comes up with something more accurate but understandable in English, I will validate the current version. |

| | Sorry, Tantine; it's now wrong. GİTTİĞİ SANİYE BİTMİŞTİR means "The moment (when) s/he left is gone", not "the second has ended, it's gone". |
| | 23 Februari 2008 21:08 |
| | 23 Februari 2008 23:21 |
| | The problem is not the difference between "second" and "moment" - that's not important. The problem is the connection between what is "gone" and what has "ended" - it is the second/moment when s/he left that is gone. |
| | 23 Februari 2008 23:25 |
| | I've edited the text and validated the translation. Tantine, I hope you don't mind - you sounded like you were kind of tired of it anyhow. |

| | Hi Kafetzou
Not at all
Thanks so much
I could no longer see head nor tail of this one.
