Siste Innlegg | | | | | 9 September 2007 04:02 | | | Porfyhr, what is the verb tense here? Should it be past tense? CC: Porfyhr | | | 10 September 2007 10:39 | | | Kafetzou, it is present, but in a poetical way. It could also have been future (but that was considered vulgar).
Talking about nobilities, esp kings and queens, who never gave birth to anything but the loveliest amongst children.
The text should be regarded like "gossip" about what the child would be, boy/girl, a girl was a tragedy in it self so one hoped that she would have good looks in order to be married to a noble man.
Did it make a bit more sense of the tense?

gives
is giving
will give
I suspect from the title (dedication), that it should be "may the queen give birth", but as you know, I can't read Swedish. | | | 16 September 2007 15:53 | | | Porfyhr, this one is still not correct. Could you please read my note above and correct it accordingly? Thanks. | | | 16 September 2007 16:08 | | | Well Kafetzou,
the only possible way to express it nearly is "gives".It is taken for granted that this is what will be born by a queen.
For the first time I think Latin would have had a more exact expression.
Living in present time, would you be so kind and exchange it into "gives" please.
