Bună, ce faci? Am tot încercat să-ţi scriu, dar, din păcate, tu nu vorbeşti limba engleză, iar eu nu vorbesc limba turcă. Îmi pare rău, dar web—ul meu nu funcţionează deocamdată, aş vrea foarte mult sa te văd. De când ţi-am văzut profilul pe hi5 mi-ai plăcut foarte mult şi aş vrea să păstrăm legătura, dacă vrei. Te pup dulce. Ai grijă de tine.

Hello, how are you? I have been trying to write to you, but, unfortunately, you don't speak English and I don't speak Turkish. I am really sorry, but my webcamera is not working at the moment, I would really like to see you. Since I saw your profile on hi5, I have been very attracted by you and I would like to keep in touch. Sweet kiss. Take care of yourself.

Hi iepurica

"... my webcamera does not work for now"

is that : "it's not working at the moment", or "it hasn't ever worked"?

Also
"Since I have seen your profile on hi5, I liked you very much "

I think it should read:
"When I saw your profile...."

What do you think?

Actually the corect meaning is: "it is not working at the moment" or "does not work yet" (is this form correct?), I will change it.

On the other hand, "Since I have seen your profile on hi5, I liked you very much " - I know that "like" does not have the correct tense there. "De când" is translated exactly by "since" in English, no doubt. She wants to say that since she saw that profile she has been atracted by him, but did not dare to translate by "atracted", because that would have "raised" polemics again.
I don't know, if you agree, I can change that "liked", I don't like either how it sounds. I just need a suggestion if I'm not asking too much.

Hi iepurica,
"is not working at the moment" sounds fine.

For that sentence "Since I have seen your profile on hi5, I liked you very much ".

The problem here is not "since", you can use it, anyway the first verb "see" has to be into simple past.

"Since I saw... --- "Since I have seen...

But the present perfect should be used in the second part, to show that something has been happening between a certain moment in the past (when I saw your profile) and the present time.
The problem is that the verb "like" in this circumstances doesn't sound very well.
"to be attracted by you" would be better.
In this case the line would be perfectly understandable:

"Since I saw your profile on hi5, I have been very attracted by you".

See what I mean? S/he saw the profile (once in the past) and since then, s/he has been attracted by that person (or his/her profile).

Lilian, THANK YOU. Now I have corrected it.

I wasn't found either of my first translation attempt and especially that "like" bothered me greatly, but now it really makes sense and the explanation I got from you made "light" a little bit more in my brain. I guess I learnt something today...

I'm glad of having been of any help.

I know that terrible "Present Perfect" may bewilder translators.
