Maelezo kwa mfasiri
Selamlar Yukarıdaki cümlede "her face as white as her close-cropped hair was black" ifadesini anlayamıyorum ve Türkçe çevirisini yapamıyorum. Mespa, romandaki zenci kadındır. İçinde bulunduğu kayıkla fırtınalı bir denizde yolculuk etmektedir. İlgilendiğiniz için teşekkürler. Saygılarımla
I could try to translate it into Turkish, but my literary Turkish is not that good. I'll explain it to you, though - maybe that will help (you and the translator).
"her face as white as her close-cropped hair was black" is comparing only the degree to which it was white, but it wasn't really white - that's just an expression meaning she was scared because the boat was "pitching" (rocking). Here's a loose translation:
"her face showed that she was very scared"
About the comparison: If her hair was very, very black, then her face had become very, very white (she was very, very scared).
"close-cropped" means that it (her hair) had been cut very short.
Thanks a lot for the translation. I realized that i had misunderstood the sentence, so i did the translation wrong. I am not a translator but i love to read "the original text" and one of my hobbies is to try to translate my favorite English texts(novels, poems, etc) into Turkish language.
Thanks.
You're welcome - I wasn't going to do it (I was going to leave it for a native speaker to do), but after I got done explaining it to you, I decided I might as well go ahead and do it - the worst that can happen is that it gets rejected by the Turkish evaluator.
P.S. Nice hobby - you can put it to use on the cucumis site!
Thank you again...
accept my apologizes please.. i saw your message "today"...because of this i couldnt write a reply message to you...it's a good thing to find an expert translator around when you look for...)
i must say that we're glad you stay (you're not going to leave) sir...
and thanks for the P.S...but i'm afraid i have not enough information about translating texts...not as enough as you and the cucumis people (did i write it right??..i dont think so )..)
well...goodbye...
oh...i'm sorry then....thanks for reminding..
i think it was directed to you...i've thought you are about to stop this work (translating) (on this web site). and i just wanted to say i would be glad if you went on doing this job.
ok...
take care of yourself...
goodbye
