"her face as white as her close-cropped hair was black" is comparing only the degree to which it was white, but it wasn't really white - that's just an expression meaning she was scared because the boat was "pitching" (rocking). Here's a loose translation: "her face showed that she was very scared" About the comparison: If her hair was very, very black, then her face had become very, very white (she was very, very scared). "close-cropped" means that it (her hair) had been cut very short.

	Cthulhu_Dawn Idadi ya ujumbe: 5	Thanks a lot for the translation. I realized that i had misunderstood the sentence, so i did the translation wrong. I am not a translator but i love to read "the original text" and one of my hobbies is to try to translate my favorite English texts(novels, poems, etc) into Turkish language. Thanks.
