| | Hi kfeto,
It that "measurements" or "measures"?
I think "it is necessary to pay attention to the measurements indicated above" would read better if it was:
"the measurements indicated above should be taken into consideration (should be observed)"
Also, you mean "after" the maintenance is done?
If not you should use "under maintenance" |

| | hi lilian
it says measurements
ok i rewrote the during/after part to better stick to the original.

| | Now, I think you complicated the text too much.
What about:
"In order to avoid problems, when handling the machine for reasons such as maintenance or repair, the measurements indicated above should be taken into consideration."
|

| | So kfeto, what do you say? |
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 15:19 |
| | hmm i don't see how moving one clause 'uncomplicates', it wasn't complicated to begin with i think |
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 15:40 |
| | kfeto, that "is necessary" is not necessary. The syntax I suggested is the best readable one. I'll edit that way and set a poll if you don't mind.
This translation has been waiting long enough. |
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 18:15 |
| | fine. then maybe you should delete it also from the source |
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 18:29 |
| | We are just using different words to say the same thing, kfeto.
"should/must be taken into consideration" means the same as: "it's necessary that they are taken into consideration"
But we can't use both (should/it's necessary)at the same time. See what I mean?
I think that in order to be clear we could use "must".
What do you think? |
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 18:33 |
| | hmm..there is a misunderstanding between us.
'necessary' should apply here: "when handling the machine is necessary for..."
i agree with the "should be taken into consideration" part.
|
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 18:39 |
| | OK. Let's see. If you feel so strongly about using "it's necessary", we can reach an agreement here.
What about this?
"In order to avoid problems, when handling the machine for reasons such as maintenance or repair, it is necessary that the measurements indicated above are taken into consideration."
|
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 18:44 |
| | hehe
no no, "should be taken into consideration" is fine by me.
it's "when handling the machine is necessary for reasons" i'd rather have
either way thanks lilian |
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 18:48 |
| | Fine, but what do you say about using "must" instead of "should"? It would give a sense of obligation. Does the original have that meaning? |
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 18:51 |
| | yes, must it says, as in obligatory/mandatory
|
| | 30 Lipiec 2008 19:18 |
| | OK, I'll edit with "must" then.
I hope we completely agree on the translation now. |
