1.*kug''a*.

1.*kug''a*. Proper noun, maybe an epithet to a common familiar name, which was in use but has not survived. The common Аbkhazian meaning of the name is *qugha* - "wise". In the text the name *qugha* with regard to the sound *g''* reflects the dialectal norm, given that, of course, this *g''* is not here with the graphic variation *g*.
2*dy* instead of what it is to be expected for- "great" (modern Abkh. *dyu*). The old form of the word occurs frequently in texts. In the inscription, the final *y* is the result of the reduction *а*, a well known phenomenon in the Bzyb dialect of the Abkhazian language. A similar reduction must have been present in the Sadz language. According to historic memories they were neighbours with the Bzybs: they lived in riparian lands among Bzybs and Mzymta. The word *dy<--da* - "great" after the name *Kug''a* characterizes a form of courtesy and respect towards the elders. This has always been a characteristic of the Abkhaz people. The syllable ы was not found before in the form || it introduces a new phenomenon in writing.
Notes sobre la traducció
Editor's note: The second-to-last sentence has been edited to sound like an English sentence - the original was more like "It has gone alongside the Abkhaz people so far." (as translated by apple)

Wow - this is amazing, apple! What a difficult translation this must have been! I have a couple of questions for you:

1) Should "riflects" be "reflects"?
2) Is there a reason why "Bzyb" is written once with an "s" but twice with a "z"?
3) I can't understand this sentence: "It has gone alongside with the Abkhaz people so far." Can you explain it?
4) The word "inaugurate" is usually used for the beginning of a politician's term of office. Would "introduce" work here?

1) Yes, it is reflects
2) It's difficult beacause all these names are "russianized" (??) in the text; the name of the people is Bzyb without z.
3)I was trying to keep close to the text. I suppose it means - It has accompanied the progress of Abkhaz(ian) people - it has been with them on their route.
4)Introduces is OK.
Thank you, Kafetzou.

Thanks, apple - this clarifies almost everything, but what do you mean by "the name of the people is Bzyb without z"? Do you mean it's Byb? I don't get it.

No, no. I meant Bzyb without a final z.
Just Bzyb.

My question had been about why you spelled it "Bsyb" once and then "Bzyb" twice, but it doesn't matter - I just changed "Bsyb" to "Bzyb".
