hello I greet you and the sister warmly, what's up there in Scandinavia, are you getting ready to receive the spring? I can't wait for it, I live in Podlachia and unfortunately the heating season lasts from the end of September till the middle of May here. But I think that spring will come earlier this year. Once again, best wishes for you and your families. Zbyszek.

Hi Olesniczanin,

"hello I greet You and the sister"

could that be:
Hello, I greet you and your sister. ?

or that "sister" is a nun?

and what is "the central heating season" ?

"spring will come earlier this year."

"best wishes for you and your families."

unless she has more than one family, this should be:
"best wishes for you and your family."

or if you are talking about cousins and other people in the family...

"best wishes for you and your relatives."

What do you think?

Hi Lilian Canale.

Thanks for your remarks and doubts. Let me see if I can carify some of them.

"hello I greet You and the sister"
could that be:
Hello, I greet you and your sister. ?
or that "sister" is a nun?

Well, I guess "your sister" would be more smooth but it's not said whose sister it is. It's probably the addressee's sister ("your" but we can't exclude it's actually the sender's sister ("my" in this case). I doubt it's a nun but how can I be 100% sure since "siostra" can mean a nun as well?

and what is "the central heating season" ?
Central heating season is the time when the central heating can be turned on. It's longer in colder areas (like Podlachia). Maybe "heating season" alone would do.

"spring will come earlier this year."
Okay .

"best wishes for you and your families."
unless she has more than one family, this should be:
"best wishes for you and your family."

The addressee is plural (like "vosotros", not "tú", so I guess there are at least two separate families.

Regards,
Oleśniczanin

OK I got it!

So, my suggestions would be:

- heating season
- earlier
- "best wishes for you two and your families". Or "best wishes for both of you and your families."

If that is OK with you, please edit it and we can set a poll.

It kind of works that way. You just have to remember that the plural form doesn't have to mean "two". It means "two or more".

The plural of "you" in English is "you" - there's no need to emphasize it by adding "both" in English.

Sure, there is no need for that.
I was just trying to justify the use the plural "families", since:

"best wishes for you and your families" sounded strange if we imagine the letter is addressed to an only one person.

When he explained that it was addressed to two people (she and the sister) I imagined that both would make things clear.

Do you understand my point?

Anyway as I said it was a suggestion, not a correction.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand now, but I think it sounds OK as it is now.

I think that You should live Podlasie(polish name) not Podlachia

I would follow the opinion of Kaasiaa, Podlasie is also accepted in English by the way.

Right, "Podlasie" works as well.
