Could you, please, help me with a bridge here?
Thanks a lot in advance! CC: irini reggina | | | 25 Febrero 2010 23:14 | | User10Cantidad de envíos: 1173 | Hi!
Just a note: I used the Turkish version of the Book of the Psalms (in the Turkish and English versions: psalms 18:1,2(beginning); in the Greek: 17:1,2). If it's any help, according to the American Standart it's: " 18:1 I love thee, O Jehovah (in other editions: The Lord), my strength. 18:2 Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress (in other editions: refuge), and my deliverer; " | | | 26 Febrero 2010 00:13 | | iriniCantidad de envíos: 849 | Well, here I think there may be a matter of interpretation by some. Maybe we need someone who speaks Hebrew? You see, literally, the translation is " I will love you/thee, Oh Lord, my strength. The Lord is my firmament*, my refuge, and my deliverer."
*sort of like "the one that holda me firm", "the firm one where I can stand or lean on" that kind of thing. That's why, quite poetically, in English it is translated as "my rock". I'm afraid I don't speak any Turkish so I have no idea how the Turkish version translates either that or the verb "future or present tense"/ | | | 27 Febrero 2010 16:03 | | | Thanks a lot for your explanations, User10 and Irini!
I got it, and also I searched it on the internet, too |
