Title
Encore Une Histoire
Text
Submitted by ramarren

Song "Encore Une Histoire" by Margaux Avril

Title
Once again a story
Translation
English

Translated by mbouquet
Target language: English

On a nice summer day I pack everything, ready to go
A smell of holidays sneaks into my novels.
Barely the time of a bottle and I arrive when you have to go.
Once again a memory, ready to heal

Each time, it is the same,
You will be like unreal,
Each time, it is the same

Once again a story which
Ends on the page of a cloudless summer and
It is your image that I
Keep, the memory of a short-term story

I left your promises stuck on my face
Your silences which drift me away from the shore
The landscape has changed, emotion has faded
It is a done deal, I have already forgotten you
Remarks about the translation
I'm not sure about the meaning of two parts of the French text:

1. "C'est ton image moi que je
Garde le souvenir d'une histoire de passage"
Which is not clear without commas, and which I translated with these commas:
"C'est ton image, moi, que je
Garde, le souvenir d'une histoire de passage"

2. "L'affaire est réalisée que je te t'avais oublié"
Which doesn't sound common French, and which I translated into "It is a done deal, I have already forgotten you" (in French: "C'est une affaire réglée, je t'ai oublié")

I also translated "histoire de passage" into "short-term story". You may find a better translation for this expression.

Hi mbouquet.

The remarks about the translation should be made in the language of the translation so that the expert evaluating it can understand your explanations. Please click on "Edit" and fix that. OK?

Would it be too impertinent to ask you to listen the song in Youtube and try to understand the unclear phrases by ear?

I've got the general meaning of the song and generally I'm satisfied, but still, like they say, noblesse oblige

Just one slight remark, please edit "botle" with "bottle"; otherwise it's a good translation IMO
