The Chinese capital city of Beijing has speeded up the preparations for the 2008 Olympics, which will be hosted there. The 65,000 person capacity Wulihe Stadium in the city of Liaoning has been leveled to the ground with 3 tonnes of explosives carefully placed in its base. The Olympic Committee has announced that they will begin construction on a new stadium that adheres to the FIFA rules in the place of the stadium, which was built in 1989, as soon as the rubble is cleared away. Liaoning will host the football competition at the Olympics.
