| | I thought the same with you,Frankcy and some English friends said me it'd be 'friends'
|

| | to say I want to be friend with you is syntactically incorrect |

| | How are you?
Where are you from originally? Are you working? What is your mariyal status?
I've fallen in love with you. I want to be friends with you.

| | Hi guys, the expression is:
"to be friend s with somebody"
I want to be friends with you
But the other suggestions Francky gave are correct as well. |

| | I trust his English He's studying philosophy He must have thought on it
And I asked it to Chantal, too. You know she's studying English Literature&Culture. She said "friends",too. We should obey ) |

| | is friends with = has a friendship with |

| | WOW, how long dialog here.
Dear uzeyir, i think Francky's circumstantion is correct.
"I want to be your friend." it's correctly grammatical .
And if you observe, in source text "ArkadaÅŸ" word it's singular.
|
| | 2008年 मे 1日 21:58 |
| | as Francky says, "I want to be your friend" is Ok for me. |
| | 2008年 मे 1日 22:00 |
| | Dear mygunes!
Yeah,'friend' may sound more logical but it's 'friends'.You can't translate everything the same to another language.
|
| | 2008年 मे 1日 22:04 |
| | If you don't want everything to be translated as how they are in the source language,"I want to be your friend" means "Senin arkadaşınolmak istiyorum."
Some friends tell me not to translate by changing it but the examples you gave mean different things as well. |
| | 2008年 मे 1日 22:26 |
| | is there a big difference between
"seninle arkadaÅŸ olmak istiyorum."
and
"Senin arkadaşın olmak istiyorum." ? |
| | 2008年 मे 1日 22:25 |
| | son cümle tamamen yanlış |
| | 2008年 मे 1日 22:26 |
| | SENÄ°N ARKADAÅžIN olmak istiyorum : I want to be YOUR FRIEND
SENÄ°NLE arkadaÅŸ olmak istiyorum : I want to be friends WITH YOU
They've got almost the same meaning but the owner of Turkish text wrote "seninle arkadaÅŸ olmak istiyorum" |

| | Well, I didn't know one could say that, but as I told uzeyir, if his friend's english is trustable,(and he seems to be) no reason to argue any longer about, personaly I'm keeping on learning English everyday, I'm not a native speaker and therefore I admit my English is not perfect (I can't know everything) and here that one can say "I want to be friends with you", is ok for me! |

| | What's the vocabulary mistake,calypso?
I don't understand people who don't even give any reason :S Omg!
I appreciate Frankcy because he's given some reasons but some people here do nothing except judging. |

| | as a student of both English and Turkish I can only say that üzeyir is right .
seninle: with you
arkadaÅŸ: friend
olmak: to be
istiyorum: I want
I want to be friends with you.
And yes, arkadas is in the singular, but the 'I want to be friends with you' doesn't imply more than one friend either does it? |
