Rufus too was the master of many slaves. Rufus's slaves loved the master because he was good: he used to give money to keen slaves, not even did he flog them. Slaves of stern masters lived life miserably, they were frequently beated and starved out. Rarely were slaves happy with masters and masters with slaves.
