We have, each one of us,an essential inner nature which is intrinsic, given, "natural" and usually, very resistant to change.
It makes sense to speak here of the hereditary, constitutional, and very early acquired roots of the individual self, even though this biological determination of self is only partial, and far too complex to describe simply. In any case, this is "raw material" rather than finished product, to be reacted to by the person, by his significant others, by his environment, etc.
