I only got access to the internet now, so my reply is a little late. The translation looks fine except for the minimal difference of "la personne la plus fourvoyée..." and "une des personnes les plus..." (which should be correct). You can decide for yourself if it's worth editing though

Now that you told me, I can see the plural is used as well as "einer der"

So one could translate by
"Matthieu est effectivement une des personnes les plus fourvoyées, gentilles et étranges que j'aie jamais rencontré."
