I took from Aristocritus 3 letters, which i ve destroyed for tears; i m shocked by grief , oh my Terentia, and my miseries don t torture me more than your and yours (votre).I m more wretched than you, you are very wretched, cause it s a common disgrace for us both, but the fault is only mine. It was my duty to avoid the danger with an embassy or to resist with diligence and with abundance or to fall fiercely.
